  Arrived about 9.30 pm and sat down to check out the menu after asking if they were still doing food (until 10pm) and before long a very pleasant member of staff came over and told us we could order everything at the table if we wanted to. This came as a surprise and was welcome. We both ate from a great value 2 for £10 menu which had a good range of different foods to choose from. The good was delicious when it arrived and the service was great. We hadn't originally planned on going here but after parking in the car park next door and not wanting to walk a bit further to wetherspoons in the rain we went into the Old Colonial; we are very pleased that we did!

  Limited seating areas due to reserved tables that no one was taking up. Seated in one corner of the room, carpet stank, dirt marks up the wall. Items on the menu ordered but not available - burned beef ends being one. Reluctantly ordered pie and chips, pie was dry and solid, chips tasted disgusting and worst I've ever had. We order a children's pizza for the kids but requested no chicken, low and behold it was served with chicken in it!! Not vegetarian but could happen to those that are.
  
  Nicks bar next door seems the place to go, shame we didn't see until we left.
  
  Marstons hold your head in shame- utter rubbish.
